All of the plants that we grow and sell are native to coastal British Columbia. We grow perennials, shrubs, and trees that are available as live potted plants (not bare root). The plants are grown from propagules (primarily seeds) that we have collected from the wilderness of the Sea to Sky and surrounding regions, and from the plants that have been established at our nursery. We never dig up plants from the wild, and we don't resell plants from other growers. We grow from seed as much as possible, rather than cuttings, to promote genetic diversity. Our plants are a wild, natural form, not cloned cultivars or human-made hybrids. As such, each individual plant may have slightly different characteristics, and they are all well adapted to thrive in our region. We grow naturally and do not use any synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides.

SIZES & CONTAINERS:
The plants that we ship are grown and sold in deep cells that are 2.7" wide and 5"-10" deep, and are essentially large plugs. These plants are typically 6 months - 2 years old, depending on the species. The deep cells offer multiple benefits:

• Healthy root system: The depth and ribbed design of the cells encourages roots to grown downwards, where they get air pruned by the large holes at the bottom. This helps to prevent issues such as circling and girdling roots, and the air pruning encourages the roots to branch out into a denser, healthier root system.
• Easy to plant: The small diameter of the cells makes our plants easy to plant out, with less digging required. This is especially useful when planting around the roots of nearby trees and shrubs, and less disruptive to soil biology.
• Affordable shipping: While our standard 7" deep cells are the same depth as a traditional 1 gallon nursery pot, the diameter is much smaller, eliminating unnecessary soil volume and making them more compact and lighter (therefore cheaper to ship) than plants in traditional nursery pots.

Larger and more mature plants may be available for some species; plants in larger pots are available for local Squamish delivery and pickup only (no shipping).

PLANTING & CARE:
Spring and fall are the best times for planting, as the cooler temperatures and ample rainfall give the roots a chance to become established before dealing with the stress of summer heat. However, potted plants can be planted out any time that the soil can be worked. If planting in the summer, be sure to keep the young plants watered while they become established. Set your plant up for success by choosing a favorable site. Each species has its own preferences for ideal growing conditions, and we do our best to provide an accurate description of these conditions on each plant's profile page. We recommend watering immediately after planting, mulching, and continuing to water as needed, until the plants become well established. Once they are well established, and if they have been well sited, native plants require minimal care, and many are drought tolerant.

We are currently growing over 100 species of native plants, and are always adding more! The nursery is quite young, and some species take years to germinate and grow into a sellable size, so we appreciate your patience as we slowly build up our inventory.
