Who we are & what we do
Rain Coast Nursery is a small native plant nursery located in Squamish, British Columbia, growing a wide variety of perennials, shrubs and trees that are all native to the Sea to Sky region and coastal BC.
Our mission is to make native plants more easily accessible to gardeners throughout coastal British Columbia by offering online shopping and shipping of live plants, to provide high quality plants for land restoration, and to contribute to the health of our local ecosystem by growing plants that support native insects, birds, and other wildlife.
The nursery was founded by Jordana Meilleur, a self-taught horticulturist who is passionate about propagating and gardening with native plant species. Her journey with native plants began with an interest in wildcrafting; while living in her self-built 4x4 campervan and travelling around the remote wilderness of western Canada harvesting morel mushrooms, she was drawn to the wild plants around her, dedicating much of her time to learning about them, and developing a deep reverence for the environment they're found in. When her vanlife journey came to an end, she settled in Squamish, BC, where she began gardening and was captivated by the process of growing plants from seeds. Naturally, her passions for wild plants and cultivation came together, and she began to grow native plants from seeds as a way to sustainably enjoy wild food plants in her own garden, and to give back to the land, rather than just take from it. She enjoys exploring wild places with her dog, observing nature and mindfully gathering seeds that she finds along the way, which are then lovingly grown into plants ready for your garden or landscape.
