Baldhip Rose (Rosa gymnocarpa)

Also called dwarf rose, baldhip rose is the smallest of our native roses, usually growing only 2-5 feet tall. It does well in shade and can handle dry soil once established, making it an excellent understory plant in a woodland garden. Its small, fragrant, pink flowers are loved by bees and other insects, and the small pear-shaped fruits, called rosehips, provide food for birds throughout the winter.
